The following are highlights of incidents that were handled by officers of the Baxley Police Department over the past several days.

On December 20th at approx. 5:10 pm, officers met with a resident at an Orange Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival, the resident told officers while she was gone from home, person(s) unknown entered her home and removed several items and Christmas presents. Reported missing along with the presents was a Playstation 4 console, 3 extra Playstation 4 controllers, a black semi-auto pistol, a Madden 2006 game, 3 superhero caps, 3 superhero masks, 2 barbie dolls, and a Chicago mug.
On December 22 at approx. 8:55 pm, officers met with a complainant at the Wal-Mart parking area in reference to a theft. On arrival, the complainant told officers that, while he was inside shopping, person(s) unknown removed 2 coolers from the back of his 2017 GMC pickup. Reported missing were 2 new Yeti coolers, both 32-quart and tan in color, and one still in the box.
On December 25 at approx. 9:00 pm, officers met with a complainant at Skipper’s Laundromat in reference to a theft. On arrival, the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had made entry into the laundromat through a rear door and, once inside, removed the change machine from the wall, and broke into a washing machine, removing the cash from it.
On December 26 at approx. 8:19 am, officers met with a complainant at a Kenny Lane address in reference to a theft. On arrival, the complainant told officers that person(s) unknown had busted out the window on his 2004 Dodge Ram truck and removed a Kenwood woofer and a pioneer car stereo (with screen) and several assorted tools.
On December 31 at approximately 2:09 pm, officers answered a call to an East Allen Street address in reference to a domestic incident. On arrival and the officers announcing they were outside the home, they heard someone shouting at them from inside the home. This was followed by a female saying, “he won’t let me out!” Fearing for the safety of whoever was in the home, the officers broke in through the front door, where they were confronted by a person holding two hammers. The person said he was going to use them on whoever came into the house, but, after a command from the officers, the person dropped both hammers and was taken into custody without further incident. Charged in connection with this incident was Demetri Parrish, age 23, of Baxley on one county of battery under the Family Violence Act, and disorderly conduct.

Chief Godfrey would like to ask anyone who has information in regard to these or any other crimes to please contact the Baxley Police Department, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, on the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
