On Tuesday, November 29, city officials held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of what will become the new Vidalia High School.

The site is across the street from the current high school. Construction of the new school is being handled by T.Q. Constructors. Building the school will cost an estimated 27$ million.

According to officials, approximately $18 million is coming from state grants, and the remaining $9 million is coming from a one-cent sales tax increase.

The school will open in Fall of 2018.
