In the early morning of July 14, 58-year-old Jerome Abernathy lost his life to a house fire. The fire, which began in the second story of a three-story Oakdale home, was contained by firefighters before it could do significant damage to the rest of the home.

Nine people were displaced by the blaze. The American Red Cross has offered to assist them.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
