Gene Batten’s Alma home was raided by authorities on June 22. Animal Control took possession of his approximately 20 dogs.
The raid came after complaints from neighbors that Batten’s dogs were entering their property, killing their dogs, and generally
causing trouble.
The dogs living in Batten’s home were receiving little care and appeared to lack access to drinking water, food and vet care. As a result, Batten will face more than fifty counts of cruelty to animals.
Batten’s home was found to violate city ordinances, and was signed over to the City of Alma.
