The Georgia Supreme Court today unanimously rejected an appeal by a Savannah man convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole in the 2012 slaying of Amber DeLoach.
In rejecting the appeal by Shan Demetrius Cheley, Justice Keith Blackwell said, “We conclude that (evidence) was legally sufficient to authorize a rational trier of fact beyond a reasonable doubt that Cheley was guilty of the crimes of which he was convicted.”
“Upon our review of the record and briefs we see no error and we affirm.”
A Chatham County Superior Court jury convicted Cheley, 38, on Dec. 20, 2013, of murder and related charges in the Sept. 30, 2012, slaying of the 18-year-old former St. Vincent’s Academy student and Island High alumna.
