Baxley City Council Meeting (March 27th, 2019)

The Baxley Mayor and City Council held their Regular Meeting on Wednesday morning March 27th at City Hall. Review and approval of Regular Meeting minutes from March 13th at 8:30 am and review and approval of minutes from the Called Meeting on March 19th at 6 pm were completed.
Under Old Business:
Item A: Consider the second reading/adoption of an ordinance on a petition filed by Margarita Lepe located at 214 Palmetto Circle, be annexed and establish a business-residential (BR-1) zone in voting district #2. A motion was made by Bass and seconded by Thomas. The motion carried unanimously.
Item B: Consider the second reading/adoption of an ordinance on a petition filed by South Georgia Tae Kwon Do located at 1329 Hatch Parkway North, be annexed and establish a business (B-2) zone in voting district #2. A motion was made by Fryer and seconded by Livingston. The motion carried unanimously.
Item C: Consider the first reading of an ordinance on a petition filed by Jeffrey M. Dyal located at North Main Street, be rezoned from residential (R-12) zone to a business (B-2) zone in voting district #1. A motion was made by Bass and seconded by Hall. The motion carried unanimously.
There was no New Business to discuss.
Other Business: An executive session was proposed for the purpose of personnel. Motion made by Bass, seconded by Fryer. The motion carried unanimously.
Reports: The mayor, council members, and city attorney had none to give. The city manager reported he attended the Baxley Fun Run on Saturday, March 23rd along with City Clerk Reba Cash and Miranda Tanner. He stated it was a huge success. The city manager also reported that the annual report on solar panel systems had been done. All equipment has been checked and there were no findings.
The mayor then excused the public for an executive session for the purpose of discussing an employee grievance hearing that was held on Monday, March 25th. After the executive session, the mayor called the meeting back to order. Mayor pro tem Hall made a motion to uphold the city manager’s decision on the termination of employee Shane Crosby. Fryer seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. With no other business, the meeting was adjourned.
