On 03/02/2019 Officers from the Douglas Police Department responded to a shooting incident at 1612 S. Peterson Ave. (Huddle House). On arrival, Officers found that 26-year-old Skylar Allan Polk had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Mr. Polk was transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle prior to Officers arriving on the scene. The person that shot Mr. Polk was still on scene and was identified as 31-year-old Unika Shonte Williams. The firearm used in this incident was secured by Responding Officers. Ms. Williams was transported to the Douglas Police Department so Investigators could obtain an initial statement. An Officer responded to Coffee Regional Medical Center to check the status of Mr. Polk and if possible obtain a statement from him. Due to him being partially sedated The Officer was unable to get a clear statement from Mr. Polk. The Officer was able to speak with the several Witnesses to the shooting that had transported Mr. Polk to the hospital. After obtaining statements from the Officers at the scene, Ms. Wilson, and Witnesses, Unika Shonte Williams was charged with Aggravated Assault. Mr. Polk was transported from Coffee Regional Medical Center to Jacksonville Fla. For further treatment.
