Friday night, November 9th, at The Georgia Country Music Awards in Macon, Georgia, it was announced that THE DOUBLE EAGLE BAND has been named TRADITIONAL ARTIST OF THE YEAR in country music for the State of Georgia.
There to accept the award was the entire band, Danny Rewis, Jimmy Mosley, Stan Barnard, Amanda Young Edwards, Dawn Phillips, and Butch Coleman. After receiving the award, THE DOUBLE EAGLE BAND performed a complete set on stage at the Crazy Bull venue in Macon.
Butch Coleman stated. “We have worked very hard the last year to accomplish what we set out to do. Late night practices, late night gigs all over South East Georgia, being away from our families and dedicating ourselves to the art of Traditional Country Music which you hardly hear anymore. We thrive to keep this type of country music alive and well. There is a song out there “Who’s Gonna Feel Their Shoes”, we as a band are trying our best to keep Traditional Country Music alive and well”.
Butch also stated, “We, THE DOUBLE EAGLE BAND”, would like to Thanks all of our fans, supporters and those that voted for us for this award. Without you, this dream would not have been possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts”.
If some of these band members names sound familiar, they should. Danny Rewis, Stan Barnard, and Jimmy Mosley are from the Cobbtown/Collins area, Amanda Young Edwards and Dawn Phillips are from Covena, Georgia and Butch Coleman, Baxley, Georgia.
