According to Appling County Sheriff Mark Melton, at approximately 6:00 am April 2, 2018, Dillon Ray Miller, white/male age 24, of Hazlehurst, GA, escaped from the Appling County Detention Center. Miller is 5’7”, weights 130 lbs. and was wearing a black and white striped inmate suit. He was being held in the Appling County Detention Center awaiting transport to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He had been sentenced on March 23, 2018, to 10 years with one (1) year confinement and nine (9) years probation, for the offenses of Burglary, and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer. The Appling County Sheriff’s Office, the Baxley Police Department, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia Department of Corrections are currently searching for Miller.
