Appling County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were in full swing for the Peaches to the Beaches weekend. Sheriff Melton wanted all locals and visitors kept safe for this community event. Lt. Adam Bell of the Appling Detention Center attended the District Attorney’s Probation meeting. By attending these meetings, Lt. Bell monitors inmate detention more accurately and ensures they are following their sentencing details in a timely manner. Pastor Ronnie Rentz, of First Assembly of God, was Chaplin for the week.
For the week of March 9, 2018 through March 15, 2018, the Appling County Office (ACSO) provided the following services:
Deputies/Investigators, wrote 51 citations, made 12 arrests, issued 66 warnings, served 30 Criminal and 11 Civil papers for various courts, completed 25 incident reports, performed nine (9) Sex Offender verifications, and provided security for Superior Court and Grand Jury. There was five (5) vehicle crash worked by deputies, with assists from the Georgia State Patrol. Deputies patrolled 9,016 miles for the period. The Sheriff’s Office considered it an honor to provide five (5) funeral escort throughout the week. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office initiated eight (8) new criminal investigations and closed six (6).

The Appling County Detention Center provided protection for our citizens by safely housing an average of 66 inmates during the current period. Jailers completed 24 new inmate intakes and processed 18 inmate releases, which includes inmates from other counties that request our assistance in housing their inmates. The medical unit provided 62 medical checks for the weeks and food service served 1418 meals. We continue to provide one outside detail that maintains the grounds of most county facilities.
Our 911 Emergency Call Center Dispatchers received and dispatched 764 calls for service, of which 207 were emergency calls directly to 911. These numbers do not include routine communications between dispatch and units nor does it include the normal calls for training and drills.
