Update From Appling EMA: Hard Freeze

Baxley, Ga.
Residents of Appling County,
This is the Appling County Emergency Management Agency with a message from the Appling County
Board of Commissioners and the City of Baxley.
The National Weather Service out of Jacksonville has issued a hard freeze warning from 6:00pm
Wednesday January 3, 2018 until 11:00am Thursday January 4, 2018. A Hard Freeze Warning means
that temperatures 27 degrees or less
are expected for at least 2 hours. With temperatures falling into the low to middle 20’s tonight
any melting snow will refreeze causing hazardous driving conditions. Please do not travel unless
necessary.
On Thursday January 4, 2018, all administrative offices of Appling County Board of
Commissioners and the City of Baxley will be closed.
Please be advised that emergency personnel, public safety, city public works and the county road
department will be on standby to respond to emergencies.
For emergencies please contact 911; for non-emergency matters call 912-367- 8111.
Minimize travel during winter weather. If you can postpone your trip or if it is non-essential, stay in
When the weather is bad. If you don’t have somewhere you have to be, stay indoors.
As a note, please continue to listen to the local radio and check with the Emergency Management
Agency for updates as we proceed through this storm.
