At approximately 11:14 am on July 19, an employee from Interfor Corporation’s saw mill in Baxley reported that a bomb threat had been made against the facilities.

Officers with the Baxley Police Department and the Appling County Sheriff’s Office evacuated Interfor’s buildings and conducted a complete search of all of their facilities. The Baxley Fire Department and Appling EMS were also called to the scene. No explosive devices were found.

Normal operations at the saw mill have resumed.

CORRECTION: It was initially believed that the bomb threat was made via phone call, however, the threat was in fact sent through email. The GBI is investigating the source of this email.
