On January 20th at approx. 9:44 pm, officers answered a call to a domestic argument at a Hatch Pkwy South address. On arrival, officers discovered that an argument had taken place between two persons, and it had turned physical with one of the persons assaulting the other. EMS was called to the scene where the victim was transported to the Appling Health Care E.R. for her injuries sustained during the assault. She was treated and later released. Charged in connection with this incident was Galban Domingo, age 42, of Baxley on 1 count of simple battery.
On January 20th at approx. 10:14 pm, officers met with a resident at an Orange Street address in reference to a burglary. On arrival, officers met with the resident who told them that, while she was gone, person(s) unknown entered her home and removed a Dell computer and several DVDs.
On January 20th at approx. 10:58 pm, officers met with a residence at a Waldon Street address in reference to a burglary. On arrival, the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had entered her home through a rear window while she was away. Once inside the home, the person(s) rummaged through the rooms and removed several items. Reported missing was an XBOX 360 console (serial number: 050650513809) along with a game inside the console (Call of Duty Black Ops), a Smith & Wesson 38 caliber pistol (serial number 296082), which is blue steel in color with wooden grips on it, a pistol magazine containing 9mm ammo, $170.00 in cash, and a 14ct gold band with three 1/4 CT diamonds on it in a straight row. The ring is called a Forever Band.
On January 24th at approx. 1:10 pm, officers met with a resident at a Tippins Street address in reference to a theft. On arrival, the resident told officers that person(s) unknown had removed a medium sized white deeper freezer from outside, where she’d left it to dry after cleaning it.
On January 26th at approx. 5:05 pm, officers answered a call to Fred’s in reference to a theft. On arrival, officers met with a clerk who told them that two females had been in the store and had left without paying for some items, and that they were still in the parking lot, in a vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle to inquire about the call, where they detained the suspects involved in the theft. After a brief investigation, the stolen items were seized and returned to Fred’s. Charged in connection with this incident was Katie Sanchez, age 24, and Ashley Stapleton, age 21, both of Baxley on one count each of theft by shoplifting.
On January 28th at approx. 2:45 pm, officers met with a resident at a Holmesville Avenue address in reference to a theft. On arrival, the resident told officers, that he was missing his social security and disability checks from his mailbox. The resident told officers that he’d become concerned and contacted the agency about his checks, and discovered that person(s) unknown had cashed both of the checks at a local convenience store. This case is currently under investigation.
On January 29 at approx. 10:52 pm, officers met with a clerk at McDonald’s in reference to a counterfeit bill. On arrival, the clerk told officers that a person had paid for her order with a $20.00 bill, which was counterfeit. The clerk confronted the person and found that she had just received the bill from change at another store. The bill was confiscated and forwarded to the secret service.
