On Friday, January 13, shortly before 5:00 am, a 2006 Saturn Ion went off-road and crashed into a blueberry field. The vehicle, which was driving too fast for the road conditions, was turned over onto its side.
The occupants of the vehicle, 23-year-old Courtney Walker (who was driving) and 18-year-old Caitlin Thrift, escaped the incident without injury.
Ware County EMS and police arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. Officers determined that, while driving on North McDonald, the vehicle reached the end of the paved road and, due to its excessive rate of speed, went out of control on the dirt road and crashed.
The vehicle received massive damage but, fortunately, both occupants were entirely without injury.
Walker is expected to face a minor charge related to negligent driving.
