Paramount+ has confirmed that Mayor of Kingstown will return for a fifth season, which will also serve as the series’ conclusion. The final chapter of the Jeremy Renner–led drama will consist of eight episodes, a shorter run compared to the 10-episode seasons that came before.

Created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, the series debuted in 2022 and centers on Mike McLusky, played by Renner, a key power broker navigating the volatile balance between law enforcement, criminals, and inmates in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan. Season 4, which wrapped on Dec. 28, ended with a violent climax following escalating gang warfare and shifting alliances.

That season also introduced Edie Falco as Nina Hobbs, the newly appointed warden of Anchor Bay prison, whose arrival disrupted Mike’s grip on the city. Falco is set to return for the final season, which will explore the fallout from the bloodshed and the altered power structure left behind.

The ensemble cast includes Lennie James, Laura Benanti, Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi. While Dillon previously suggested the creators once envisioned a longer run, the series will now conclude with Season 5, closing out one of Sheridan’s darker entries in his growing Paramount+ television universe.

Mayor of Kingstown is executive produced by Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, and a large producing team, and is produced by Paramount Television Studios alongside 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions.
