ATLANTA – In August 2024, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announced the approval of 15 projects. The awarded projects focus on construction, bridge rehabilitation, safety improvements, and infrastructure rehabilitation across the state.

The largest investment is an $81 million reconstruction project, which accounts for 70 percent of the total funds awarded. This project focuses on the interchange reconstruction of I-85/State Route 403 at SR 74 (Senoia Road) and includes the construction of a new bridge, approach work over I-85/SR 403, and the installation of an intersection video detection system (VDS) in Fulton county.

Four construction contracts were awarded, representing 26% of the total funds. The largest of these is a $20.2 million project for nearly one mile of bridge construction and its approaches construction on I-16/SR 404 eastbound and westbound over Walnut Creek in Bibb County. Another notable construction effort is the $3.5 million contract for the development of a roundabout on SR 16 at England Chapel Road/High Falls Road in Butts county.

Three bridge rehabilitation projects have also been approved, comprising approximately $2 million, or 2% of the total funding. Among these, the largest project focuses on bridge rehabilitation at various locations within Meriwether and Muscogee counties.

The remaining 2% of the funding is allocated to seven safety projects. A key safety upgrade, valued at $10 million, will bring pedestrian and traffic signal improvements to various locations in Dade and Walker counties. Along with six additional safety initiatives, these projects account for $1.7 million of the total awarded funds.

The August awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2024 to $449 million. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and locally administered projects. Fiscal Year 2025 began July 1, 2024.

Award Announcement list (includes rejected and or deferred projects). Bids for Design-Bid-Build projects were received on July 19, and contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on August 2.

Supplemental Award Announcement (includes previously deferred projects that have now been let).

Contractors and consultants, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), registered small businesses and veteran-owned small businesses interested in bidding on projects or performing work must prequalify with Georgia DOT.
