Carolyn Summerlin Thompson – 83

Mrs. Carolyn Summerlin Thompson, our precious mother and GanGan passed away on November 12, 2023 at Hazlehurst Court Care under the care of Community Hospice.

Mrs. Thompson was born November 17, 1939 in Jeff Davis County to the late Postell and Mattie Summerlin.  She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a retired secretary at Wainright and Parlor Funeral Home.  She loved sewing, gardening, cooking, her family, and her church.  She was preceded in death by sisters, Cora Lee Adams and Lurene Rentz, and brothers, Wadis, Hoyt, Ronal, and Bobby Summerlin.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty (Scott) Harrison of Columbus, Trice Thompson (Scott Powell) of Hazlehurst and Trina (Walter) Scott of Rincon; son, Richard (Gail) Thompson of Baxley; grandchildren Melissa (Chris) Moore and Nathan Harrison of Columbus, Lindsey (Ryan) Flowers of Panama City Beach, Kyle Thompson of Baxley, Hanna Brookins of Hazlehurst and Alex Scott of Rincon; three great grandchildren Elizabeth, Harrison, and Wyatt Moore and two more on the way and one brother, Lavan Summerlin of Statesboro.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Satilla Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 750 Satilla Church Road, Hazlehurst with Rev. Jeffery Spell officiating. The visitation will be after the service.

Active pallbearers will be Kyle Thompson, Nathan Harrison, Alex Scott, Chris Moore, Ryan Flowers, and Devin Grinnell.

Remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
