Netflix has announced that Jennifer Lopez will produce and star in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Atlas. According to Variety, Atlas follows a woman (Lopez) fighting for humanity against an AI soldier who has determined the only way to end war is to eliminate humans. Lopez’s character must team up with “the one thing she fears most — another AI.”

Atlas will be directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas, Rampage).  Said Peyton: “Having the chance to direct Jennifer in the title role of this movie is a dream come true, as I know she’ll bring the incredible strength, depth and authenticity we’ve all come to admire from her work.”  Lopez also shared a photo of herself holding the film’s script on Instagram, writing: “Can’t wait for this! #Atlas movie is coming to @Netflix!!!”

Atlas is part of Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions’ first-look deal with Netflix. Her first two Nuyorican projects with Netflix have already been announced: The Mother, set to be released in late 2022, and The Cipher, which has no current release date.
