Appling County School System would like to take this opportunity to commend our Staff members who opened school 4 weeks ago with our students. They have truly done an outstanding job considering the hardships of COVID 19 as we opened school this year! To be honest, we were not sure if we would be open for long considering the COVID circumstances, but our Administrators, Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Support Staff, Nurses, Transportation, School Food Nutrition, Custodial Staff, Maintenance and Operations, and Central Office have been very creative in how school can occur in our system! Please join us again in thanking our wonderful staff and the fantastic job they are continuing to do in this 5th week of school. Our hopes are to be able to continue educating our students in face to face and virtual instruction.
We would also like to Thank our Parents for trusting us to educate your students. Our attendance has been in the upper 80’s and into the 90’s for the first month of school. We want the BEST for your child and we consider them our children too, thank you again for sending them for their education.
We Thank all of our students as well for returning either face to face or virtually this year for your education! Many students have expressed how excited they have been to be able to return to some normalcy by going to school, learning, and seeing their friends. In times like these, social emotional factors are very important to everyone!
Also, we have had the question, Can the BOE and Super make the Teachers Essential Workers? The simple answer is No – the only person that can make our Teachers Essential Workers is Governor Kemp. If we are notified of this information from the Governor’s Office, we will update the School District and Community.
Overall, we have had a good first month of school! Everyone listening to this broadcast or media announcement has had a part making this year successful for Appling County School System. We appreciate your continued prayers and thoughts as we travel this journey together!
Thank you!
