Sheriff Mark Melton, and Chief James Godfrey, would like to advise the citizens of Appling County of a rash of burglaries and entering automobiles. These thefts are occurring mostly at night in vehicles that are being left unlocked. Some of the vehicles have been located inside the homeowner’s garage. Sheriff Melton and Chief Godfrey urge everyone to lock their vehicles, remove valuables that are visible, and secure all garage doors.  The Appling County Sheriff’s Office and the Baxley Police Department are actively working to apprehend the individuals responsible for the thefts.
