Cabbage and Bacon

Got this method from a Joanna Gaines cookbook.  Easier than my grandmother’s cabbage!!  Murphy loved it.

About a 3 lb head of cabbage (green cabbage)
4-5 slices of bacon
1 small onion
1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
Salt & Pepper to taste
Heat the oven to 300 degrees. Put the uncooked bacon slices in the bottom of a dutch oven.   Slice the cabbage into small wedges and throw into the pot.  Also toss in a few sliced onion pieces, salt & pepper.  Add the vinegar and you CAN add a couple of apple slices – but they are optional.
Cover the dutch oven pot and put it in the oven for 2 1/2 hours.
When you take it out, mix the bacon & cabbage and serve.  So good!
