Mayor’s Report: The Mayor stated that he attended the Community Christmas Show that was put on by the Arts Council at the First Baptist Church. He stated that it was very entertaining and urged everyone to attend the programs the Arts Council puts on. A lot of music, good singing, and choirs from all over the county. He did have the opportunity to welcome his first dignitary to Baxley, GA who was Santa Claus. He also attended the city’s Christmas Luncheon that was very good. Everyone had a great time. He got to see all the city employees together at one time.
Pro tem Hall echoed what the Mayor stated about the Christmas Luncheon: Not only was the food very good but the fellowship was as well. He enjoyed seeing those who have retired and everyone seemed very satisfied.
Bass stated he had a discussion with one of the citizens a couple of weeks ago who stated that he couldn’t brag on the girls in the office enough. Everything he needed they got done quickly and were always very nice. He wanted to thank the girls in the office for that. The Mayor asked the City Manager to pass that information along to the staff up front.
City Manager’s Report: The City Manager gave a reminder that City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, January 1st for New Years. He also thanked the City Council for allowing them to have the Christmas Lunceon with all the employees and retirees. He really enjoyed it. This was his second year in this capacity but has enjoyed it in past years with the Fire Department. He hopes everyone has a safe holiday.
