ATLANTA, GA – Georgia DOT has awarded 21 construction contracts for statewide transportation projects totaling $64,022,862. These projects were advertised on June 22, bids were received on July 20 and contracts were awarded on August 3 to the lowest qualified bidder.
The largest single investment is a $24 million contract to resurface 3.7 miles of Interstate 285 from Conley Road to the west end of Airport Tunnel in Clayton County. The contract was awarded to Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. and has an anticipated completion date of June 30, 2019.
Routine maintenance contracts represent 66 percent of the awarded funds, or $42.3 million. These contracts are comprised of various resurfacing projects covering 52 miles of roadway across the state. The remaining 34 percent of awarded funds – or $21.7 million – include safety enhancement projects and bridge construction and rehabilitation at various locations throughout the state.
The awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2019 to $64 million. Fiscal Year 2019 began July 1, 2018.
