This morning around 8:09 am, a dump truck loaded with sand was traveling west on Zoar Road in Appling County. The passenger’s side tires of the dump truck ran off the roadway. The driver began to lose control of the vehicle. He steered it back onto the roadway. The vehicle traveled towards the south ditch and the driver over-corrected his steering. The vehicle overturned onto its driver’s side and came to rest in the south ditch, facing north. The driver was severely injured and was flown to Memorial Hospital in Savannah for further treatment. As of 4:00 pm the driver was still fighting for his life in ICU.
