WEEKLY REPORT
The Appling County Sheriff’s Office was full of activity this week. Investigator Robert Eunice conducted the P.R.I.D.E. Class (Parents Reducing Incidents of Driver Error) Tuesday evening in the ACSO Courtroom. This class is offered periodically for drivers under the age of 18 who have received a citation. ACSO welcomed our new deputy, Stacy Gruber. Please welcome him onboard. Investigator Scottie Tanner and Deputy Mark Varnadore attended High Risk Search Warrant Training. Participants in “The Biggest Loser” Competition continue to work hard and weight in! The potential subcontractors for the upcoming detention center expansion were on site Thursday. Subcontractors were here to become familiar with the specifications for the project and prepare their bids. Wally Sapp was chaplain for the week.
For the week of June 1, 2018 through June 7, 2018, the Appling County Office (ACSO) provided the following services:
Deputies and Investigators made 16 arrests, issued 34 warnings, wrote 81 citations, served 14 Criminal and 33 Civil papers for various courts, completed 34 incident reports and provided security for Superior Court. K-9 officers performed seven (7) drug searches with one (1) arrest. There were six (6) vehicle crashes worked by deputies, with assists from the Georgia State Patrol. Deputies patrolled 6,140 miles for the period. The Sheriff’s Office considered it an honor to provide four (4) funeral escort throughout the week. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office initiated Seven (7) new criminal investigations and closed six (6).
The Appling County Detention Center provided protection for our citizens by safely housing an average of 87 inmates during the current period. Jailers completed 31 new inmate intakes and processed 21 inmate releases, which includes inmates from other counties that request our assistance in housing their inmates. The medical unit provided 92 medical checks for the weeks and food service served 1884 meals. We continue to provide one outside detail that maintains the grounds of most county facilities.
Our 911 Emergency Call Center Dispatchers received and dispatched 776 calls for service, of which 229 were emergency calls directly to 911. These numbers do not include routine communications between dispatch and units nor does it include the normal calls for training and drills.
