UPDATE: The deceased is identified as Roy Darwell Waters of Hoboken, Georgia. Investigators from the Appling County Sheriff’s Office have identified the individual involved in the altercation with Mr. Waters. This individual has been interviewed by investigators. The investigation is ongoing.

PRESS RELEASE
At approximately 2:42 pm this afternoon, Tuesday, May 8, 2018, Appling County Deputies were dispatched to a “shots fired” call near County Farm Road Extension. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a white male who had sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family. The Investigation is being conducted by the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
