ATLANTA, GA – Do you own a small business? Do you want to do business with the Georgia Department of Transportation? Georgia DOT has opportunities for service providers of all sizes to participate in a variety of transportation-related maintenance projects.
“Georgia DOT wants to do business with small businesses,” said Georgia DOT Director of Equal Employment Opportunity Kimberly King. “That’s why our Business Resource Help Center hosts workshops with small business owners and disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs) about the routine maintenance projects that are happening statewide. We discuss the projects, how to become qualified to participate, how to register for notifications about opportunities and a lot more.”
STATE SUPPORTED FUNDING PROGRAM (SSFP) ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP
WHEN:         Wednesday, May 9, 10 a.m. to noon
WHERE:        SSFP Business Help Center
One West Court Square, Regus – Suite 750
Decatur, GA 30030
COST:           FREE for DBEs, Small Businesses and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses
CONTACT:     Anthony Miles, amiles@mhm-cpa.com, 678-420-5500
Qualifying for Routine Maintenance opportunities requires registering with the Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) as a Sourcing Bidder. This session provides hands-on training for interested firms as they complete the registration and move one step closer to becoming a Routine Maintenance Qualified Contractor (be sure to bring your EIN number with you).
The Georgia DOT SSFP Business Resource Help Center in Decatur assists eligible DBEs and registered Small and Veteran-owned Small Businesses in identifying and responding to business opportunities funded by the Transportation Funding Act (TFA) of 2015. The primary focus for the sustained funds resulting from the TFA is to ensure that Georgia’s roadways, roadsides and bridges are in a state of good repair. This means that preventative pavement treatments and other routine maintenance activities like concrete repair, landscaping, vegetation removal, tree trimming, sound wall repair, pothole repair, and striping and bridge repair are being conducted statewide. These activities offer DBEs and small and medium-sized businesses the opportunity to establish themselves as a qualified contractor to bid on projects.
While the Business Resource Help Center is located in Decatur, the SSFP also conducts events and workshops about opportunities for small businesses in districts throughout Georgia.
