Two Vidalia residents, Tasha Sikes and Jason Hayes, are facing criminal charges after drugs were found in the system of their 18-month old baby.
Police responded to a 911 call last month, finding Sikes in a motel with both children. The four-month-old, who was unresponsive and unable to breath, was hospitalized and later passed away. The 18-month-old was taken into custody by social workers.
Sikes and Hayes will face charges of child cruelty. More charges may be forthcoming.
