The following is a press release from the Appling County Board of Education:
Good Afternoon, We wanted to inform you all there has been a statement posted on social media that was brought to our attention concerning a student making a threatening comment. The administration and law enforcement from the schools have investigated this situation and have found no credible threat at this time. In putting student safety first and being vigilant, Appling County School System has reached out to our local law enforcement and everyone is working together to be proactive in our County. We are also coordinating with local law enforcement to be present on the half-day student release. Also, parents please speak to your children about the seriousness of making any threats as they will be taken seriously and dealt with severely and reported to our SRO’s and local law enforcement. Again, threats of any kind including verbal comments, written, social media such as Face Book, email, twitter, snapchat, Instagram, etc.. , will be taken seriously. Also, please encourage them to notify our SRO’s, teachers, and administrators of anything they hear about possible safety threats to our students and our schools.
