According to Baxley Police Chief James Godfrey, on Friday, January 5th, an arrest was made in connection with the December 29th armed robbery that occurred at the Southern Express located on N. Blvd.
Arrested in connection with this incident was Javonta Xavier Stuckey, age 18, of Madison TN, for one count each of armed robbery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and wearing masks/hoods. Stuckey is currently in custody in the Appling County Detention Center where he is awaiting further proceedings.
Chief Godfrey would like to express his sincere thanks to the officers of the Baxley Police Department, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for a job well done. He also would like to thank the citizens of Baxley and Appling County for their continued assistance and support of their local law enforcement that was greatly shown and displayed during this incident.
Chief Godfrey also says that as the investigation continues, there will be more arrests and charges forthcoming.
