The Baxley City Council held a called meeting Monday night for the purpose of making a final decision on hiring a new City Manager.  The decision had been narrowed down to four candidates.  After coming out of executive session it was announced that the vote was unanimous and that Reid Lovett had been chosen as Baxley’s new City Manager. Present City Manager, Jeff Baxley is retiring and Mr. Lovett will be filling that position at the beginning of 2018 with a salary of $73,000 a year plus $500 a month vehicle allowance and a benefits package.
