YOUR SHERIFF’S OFFICE, YOUR COMMUNITY.
The Appling County Sheriff’s Office has been working hard this week in preparation for back to school and football season and conducted vehicle inspections.  Sheriff Melton attended the Commissioners Meeting regarding the upcoming year’s budget for the ACSO and the new Appling County Detention Center Expansion Project.  Sheriff Melton also attended a planning session regarding security for the upcoming “Kingdom Come” event to be held at the Appling County Courthouse Annex.  Father Rafael Estrada, of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, was the ACSO Chaplin for the week.

For the seven-day period of July 28, 2017 through August 3, 2017, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) provided the following services:
Deputies/Investigators, wrote 12 citations, made 21 arrests, issued 16 warnings, performed 21 Sex Offender Compliance Verifications, served 11 criminal and 10 civil papers for various courts, completed 14 incident reports, and provided security for Superior Court.   There were seven (7) vehicle crashes worked by deputies, with assists from the Georgia State Patrol. Deputies patrolled 11,470 miles for the period. The Sheriff’s Office considered it an honor to provide two (2) funeral escort throughout the week.  Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office initiated two (2) new criminal investigations.
The Appling County Detention Center provided protection for our citizens by safely housing an average of 95 inmates during the current period.  Jailers completed 33 new inmate intakes and processed 32 inmate releases, which includes inmates from other counties that request our assistance in housing their inmates.  The medical unit provided 76 medical checks for the week and food service served 1,991 meals.  We continue to provide one outside detail that maintains the grounds of most county facilities.
Our 911 Emergency Call Center Dispatchers received and dispatched 723 calls for service, of which 262 were emergency calls directly to 911.  These numbers do not include routine communications between dispatch and units nor does it include the normal calls for training and drills.
