Appling County Sheriff's Office Weekly Report (June 30, July 6 2017)

The Appling County Sheriff’s Office completed the first concentrated safety patrol during the July 4th holiday period.  Sheriff Melton’s Deputies, Jailers, and 911 staff were working extremely hard to keep our roads and community safe.  Appling County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team public safety dive training continues with eight (8) ACSO employee dive students along with numerous previously certified volunteer divers.  Adam Thomas, Youth Minister for Mt. Vernon Baptist Church was Chaplin for the week.  
For the seven-day period of June 30, through July 6, 2017, The ACSO provided the following services:
Deputies/Investigators wrote 97 citations, made 39 arrests, performed 12 Sex Offender Compliance Verifications, issued 88 warnings, completed 38 incident reports, served 31 Criminal and 9 Civil papers for various courts, and provided security for Superior Court.  There were six (6) vehicle crashes work by deputies, with assists from the Georgia State Patrol.  Deputies patrolled 8,996 miles for the period.  The Sheriff’s Office considered it an honor to provide three (3) funeral escorts throughout the week.  Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office initiated nine (9) new criminal investigations and completed/closed three (3) current cases.
The Appling County Detention Center provided protection for our citizens by safely housing an average of 84 inmates during the current period.  Jailers completed 50 new inmate intakes and processed 46 inmate releases, which includes any inmates from other counties that request our assistance in housing their inmates.  The medical united provided 93 medical checks for the week and food services served 1,747 meals. The ACSO also provided one outside detail that maintains the grounds of most county facilities.
The 911 Emergency Call Center Dispatchers received and dispatched 943 calls for service, of which 237 were emergency calls directly to 911.  These numbers do not include routine communications between dispatch and units, nor does it include the normal calls for training and drills.
