For the seven-day period of April 28 through May 04, 2017, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) provided the following services:
Deputies/Investigators, wrote 23 citations, made 12 arrests which included one drug arrests, issued 35 warnings, served 18 criminal and 10 civil papers for various courts, completed 22 incident reports, and worked security for one court sessions during the current week. There were four vehicle crashes worked by deputies, with assists from the Georgia State Patrol. Deputies patrolled 6,766 miles for the period. The Sheriff’s Office considered it an honor to provide two funeral escorts throughout the week. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office initiated nine new criminal investigations and completed/closed two current cases. The Appling County Jail provided protection for our citizens by safely housing an average of 61 inmates during the current period. Jailers completed 22 new inmate intakes and processed 15 inmate releases, which includes inmates from other counties that request our assistance in housing their inmates. The medical unit provided 67 medical checks for the week and food service served 1,339 meals. We continue to provide one outside detail that maintains the grounds of most county facilities.
Our 911 Emergency Call Center Dispatchers received and dispatched 679 calls for service, 212 of which were emergency calls directly to 911. These numbers do not include routine communications between dispatch and units nor does it include the normal calls for training and drills.
During the week period, the ACSO was awarded a grant from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., to provide body armor for K9 Cash, and also welcomed the newest member of the Team, K9 Brock. The agency now has two K9 Drug teams. K9 Cash is handled by Cpl. Joey Coleman and K9 Brock is handled by Deputy David Williamson. The ACSO attended the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, and the National Day of Prayer Event.
