Yesterday, an auto accident in Bacon County claimed one life. According to GSP records, “This crash occurred around 12:25 a.m. on October 19. Initial indication is that Vehicle #1, a 1992 GMC Sierra, was traveling west on GA 32. Vehicle #2, a semi-truck, was traveling east on GA 32. Vehicle #1 failed to maintain its lane and entered into the eastbound lane and struck Vehicle #2 in the left front with the front bumper. Dewey Alford Garner, 66, of Mershon was driving the GMC Sierra. He was fatally injured. Stephen Nelson Edwards, 50, of Jesup was driving the semi-truck. He was injured and transported to Bacon County Hospital. The report has not been completed.”
