DUBLIN- The Georgia Department of Transportation is hosting a Public Information Open House (PIOH) Monday, Oct. 3 at the Dubose Porter Business and Industry Training Center on its proposed plans to widen State Route (SR) 31/US 441 from south of SR 117 at Emily Currie Road to just south of Interstate 16 at Pinehill Road.
The PIOH at the Dublin Oconee Fall Line Technical College campus at 560 Pinehill Road runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., offering the public an opportunity to view project displays, ask questions and comment. It will be informal with no presentation.
Established purposes and needs of the Laurens County project include continuing the completion of the US 441 Governor’s Road Improvement Program corridor; reducing the frequency and severity of crashes by addressing unsafe driving conditions; accommodating future traffic growth and the need for mobility, access and goods movement; and maintaining an acceptable level-ofservice in accordance with statewide performance measures.
Widening the highway in this area represents a total transportation investment near $30 million. Anticipated construction would begin in summer 2019.
