The SCMPD responded to a call at approximately 8 pm on September 17 to a New York Avenue address. At the address, 30-year-old DeAndre Newton was found to be suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to Memorial University Medical Center.
There are two persons of interest in this case.
The first is an unidentified female. She was involved at an incident at Newton’s address just hours before he was found shot. A disorderly persons call had been submitted to police in which she was believed to be the victim.
The second is Newton’s brother-in-law, Bilal Henderson, who is wanted to for questioning in the case.
According to a press release by the SCMPD, “parties believed to have knowledge of this incident have not cooperated fully with detectives.”
