At approximately 10:30 pm on September 4, SCMPD officers responded to a call regarding a shooting that injured one person.

The victim, Jerrel Thompson, had been taken to Memorial University Medical Center to receive treatment for a gunshot wound which is not believed to be life-threatening.

He told police that he’d been walking on Walburg Street when an unknown assailant shot him after a botched robbery attempt.

This case is currently open and leads are being sought. Anyone with information pertaining to it is encouraged to come forward. The SCMPD may be reached at (912) 525-3124.
