08-18-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a Theft. Complainant stated she loaned a family member several tools valued at approximately $955.00, and will not return them. Investigation led to the arrest of Richard Keith Smith age 47 of Baxley. Smith was charged with Theft by Conversion.
08-19-16—Answered a call to Norwood Street in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated he let a friend borrow his vehicle. Hours later complainant realized his pistol was missing from his vehicle. Investigation continues.
08-20-16—Answered a call to East River Road in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated he is missing two chain saws that were located in his shed. Investigation led to arrest of Derrick Preston Hunter age 35 of Baxley. Hunter was charged with Theft by Taking.
08-20-16—Answered a call to Parker’s Convenience Store/Surrency in reference to a Gas Drive Off. Employee stated subject pumped $15.19 worth of gas and drove off without paying.
08-20-16—Answered a call to Appling High School in reference to a possible Sexual Assault that occurred at Satilla Church Road. A 15-year-old female stated a 38 year old male had tried to force himself on her. DFAC’s was notified and Investigation continues.
08-20-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a Theft that occurred on Earl Cauley Road. Complainant stated he is missing his Campbell Haus 30 gallon air compressor. Investigation continues.
08/21/16—Answered a call to Phillipi Church Road in reference to a Burglary. Complainant stated person(s) had forcibly entered the residence and stole approximately $1,400.00 worth of household items. Investigation continues.
08-21-16—Answered a call to Clay Circle in reference to an Attempted Suicide. Subject was found sitting in a vehicle with both wrists cut. Subject was transported to Appling ER for treatment.
08-21-16—Answered a call to Piney Bluff road in reference to a Fight which led to the arrest of Roger Glenn Gay age 51 of Baxley. Gay was charged with Aggravated Assault and Simple Battery (Family Violence).
08-21-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report Threats. Complainant stated her boyfriend’s ex-wife made physical threats towards her.
08-21-16—Answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to a Domestic. Husband and wife are in the process of a divorce and got into an altercation. Wife left before officer’s arrived.
08/21/16—Answered a call to Golden Isles East in reference to a Prowler. Complainant stated he heard a noise from outside, when going outside he confronted a man wearing a ski mask, and struck him with a flashlight. Man fled from his property going into the woods. Property was checked and secured, no one was found.
08-22-16—Answered a call to Blackshear Hwy. in reference to a Domestic. Complainant stated she does not want the subjects that came to her home to return and to not have any contact at all.
08-22-16—Answered a call to McLain Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.
08-22-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a Sexual Assault that occurred in Alabama. Complainant stated while on a road trip a twelve year old female stated one of the older male travelers had made sexual advances towards her while eating lunch a restaurant. Investigation continues.
08-22-16—Answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a Domestic which led to the arrest of Deidre Ann Mincey age 49 of Baxley and David Virgil Nelson age 51 of Baxley. Mincey was charged with Disorderly Conduct. Nelson was charged with Disorderly Conduct and VGCS/Methamphetamine.
08-22-16—Answered a call to AP Hunter Road in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated a family member had stolen $80.00 in US currency from his wallet. Investigation led to the arrest of Derrick Preston Hunter age 35 of Baxley. Hunter was charged with Theft by Taking on a previous case of stealing two chainsaws from a residence on East River Road.
08-22-16—Answered a call to Rhett Butler Drive in reference to Entering Auto Theft. Complainant stated someone entered her auto and took $2.00 in coins and snacks.
08-23-16—Answered a call to Butler Road in reference to Entering Auto Theft. Complainant stated someone went inside her unlocked vehicle during the night and stole $22.00 in US Currency, and several cards.
08-23-16—Answered a call to Miles Chapel Church Road in reference to a Burglary which led to the arrest of Justin Howard Herrington age 42 of Baxley, Houston Franklin Griffin age 19 of Baxley, and Crystal June Collins age 32 of Baxley. Collins was charged with Possession Drug Related Object, Herrington was charged with Drugs to be kept in Original Container, VGCS/Oxycodone, and Burglary. Griffin was charged with VGCS/Methamphetamine.
08-23-16—Answered a call to Carter’s Bite Landing in reference to Damage to Property. Complainant stated while backing his boat and trailer in the river he hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes, submerging his 2015 Dodge and trailer in the river.
08-24-16—Answered a call to Crossover Road in reference to Animals Running at Large. Five horses were found in the roadway. Owner of the horses was contacted and he stated his electric fence was off and the horses got out.
08-24-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a Sexual Offence which led to the arrest of Gabriel Wayne Conger age 18 of Baxley. Conger was charged with Statutory Rape.
08-24-16—Answered a call to Cauley Road in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated someone had stolen the battery from his backhoe that was parked in a field. Possible suspect named. Investigation continues.
08-24-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an Identity Fraud. Complainant stated unknown person had used her personal information to obtain a Macy credit card and SYNCB credit card. The victim did not give anyone permission to use her information.
08-25-16—Answered a call to Central Street in reference to Damage to Property/Threats. Complainant stated her ex-boyfriend came to her residence to get some speakers, and backed into her boyfriend’s vehicle, and made threats toward her and boyfriend.
08-25-16—Complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a Theft that occurred on Willow Lane. Complainant stated stolen from a shed on his property were two pressure washers, two air condition units, and a yellow air tank with hose. Possible suspect named. Investigation continues.
08-25-16—Answered a call to Williams Road in reference to a Burglary. Complainant stated someone went in his family’s vacant rental home and stole screw drivers, box cutters, and painting supplies. Investigation continues.
