On July 25, Appling County’s Development Authority approved a motion to purchase 330 acres of land from Sherrie Stewart at $3,500 per acre. The motion was made by Dr. Esco Hall Jr. It passed with seven board members voting in favor of it and zero voting against it.
The land, located beside Norfolk Southern Railroad, was chosen out of several potential sites. It was chosen due to its low price and its location, which permits it easy access to gas, water, and electrical services.
