Appling County Sheriff's Report

After several weeks of eluding Police Officers, Chadwick Kyle Walker age 35 of Baxley was apprehended while on a stolen golf cart. He is being held without bond,  pending  seven charges of burglary, two charges of battery and one charge of theft by taking  and  with other charges in Jeff Davis County and Wayne County.
Another well-known fugitive known for avoiding arrest, Christopher Owen Byrne age 33 of Baxley was apprehended on July 20, 2016 after a brief confrontation with officers.  He is being held on a parole warrant without bond.
An ongoing Drug Investigation by the Appling County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of James Ja’Darius Solomon age 23 of Baxley. Solomon was charged with Felony charge of VGCS/Subtex,  Felony charge of VGCS/Hydrocodone.
07-13-16—Answered a call to Corey Street in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated his two guns were stolen from his vehicle. Gun was entered into GCIC as stolen. Serial number was not known at time of report for the other gun. Investigation continues.
07-14-16—Answered a call to Hwy. 1 South in reference to a one-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.
07-15-16—Answered a call to a local car dealership in reference to at Theft. Complainant stated he went to a local dealership and traded his vehicle, but forgot he left his checkbook and a pistol in the vehicle. Next day when he returned to the dealership they checked the vehicle and the items were missing.  Gun was entered into GCIC as stolen.  Investigation continues.
07-15-16—Answered a call to Appling Co. Recreation Dept. in reference to a Juvenile Problem.  Mother of a fourteen year old female stated her daughter had left with a sixteen year old male. When they both returned it was found that female and male had sent pictures to each other of their private body parts. All parties were brought to the Sheriff’s Office and Department of Juvenile Justice was notified.
07-15-16—Answered a call to Beaver Road in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated his Black & Decker blower valued at $77.00 was stolen from his residence. Possible suspect was named. Investigation continues.
07-15-16—Answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a Theft by Deception.  A local car dealership sold a vehicle to a female subject in another town.  Female was to bring an insurance check on a wrecked vehicle that she was replacing with new vehicle, female’s son left in the vehicle.  Contract was drafted but female never returned with insurance check. Investigation continues.
07-16-16—Answered a call to Fire Tower Road in reference to a one-vehicle deer accident. No injuries were reported.
07-16-16—Answered a call to Piney Bluff Road in reference to Damage to Property. Complainant stated her vehicle was parked in the yard and due to the extreme heat the back glass shattered.
07-17-16—Answered a call to Clifton Crosby Road in reference to a Domestic call which led to the arrest of Gregory Lance Smith age 28 of Denton, Ga. Smith was charged with Criminal Trespass, Battery/Family Violence, and two charges of Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree.
07-17-16—Answered a call to Tim Crosby Road in reference to a Mental Subject.  Wife stated her husband was disoriented and talking crazy. Subject was transported to Appling ER for evaluation.
07-17-16—Answered a call to San Marco Drive in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated his grandson’s chopper style bicycle was stolen.  Investigation continues.
07-18-16—Answered a call to Hill Top Road in reference to a Burglary.  Complainant stated someone had entered her residence and stole her 50” L.G. Flat screen TV, window air condition unit and a DVD player.  Investigation continues.
07-18-116—Answered a call to Piney Grove Church Road in reference to a one vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.
07-19-16—Answered a call to Miles Road in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated someone went inside her vehicle took her wallet which contained nine credit cards, and some cash.  Investigation continues.
07-19-16—Answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to Damage to Property.  Complainant stated he had a hay tedder behind his place of business and found someone had hit the hay tedder doing approximately $3,000.00 worth of damage.
07-20-16—Complainant came to Sheriff’s Office to report an Assault. Complainant stated a male subject had done bodily harm to her because she was assisting law enforcement in trying to locate him.
07-20-16—Answered a call to Chad Claxton Road in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated someone broke into the tool box on his truck and stole a pair of jumper cables.
07-20-16—Answered a call to Post Road in reference to a one-vehicle accident with injuries. Driver and two occupants were transported to Appling ER for treatment.
07-20-16—Answered a call to Frost Industrial Blvd. in reference to a subject with suspicious behavior which led to the arrest of Walder Wardell Hampton age 34 of Baxley. Hampton was charged with Public Drunkenness, and Obstruction of an Officer.
07-20-16—Answered a call to West River Road in reference to Harassment. Complainant stated a female subject continues to call, text and harass him after being asked not to.
07-21-16—Answered a call to a local convenience store in Surrency in reference to a Theft of Gas. Employee of local store stated a male subject entered the store and asked for $10.00 worth of gas, after pumping the gas subject drove off without paying.
07-21-16—Answered a call to Williams Drive in reference to a Theft. Complainant stated someone had stolen his E-Z Go Golf Cart white in color with a green charger.  Value is approximately $2,000.00.  Investigation continues.
07-21-16—Answered a call to Sellers Cemetery Road in reference to a Domestic. Complainant stated an incident occurred on the 16th of July with the mother of his five month old son. He stated they had a verbal dispute which led to her slapping him in the face and putting a gun to his face.  Complainant stated he did not want to press charges at this time.
07-21-16—Answered a call to Penny Morris Road in reference to a one vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.
