
At approximately 3:00 this afternoon, a fire broke out at Preston Grove Apartments in Georgetown. Fortunately, no one was killed or seriously injured. The fire, confirmed to have started with cigarette embers, spread from room to room through the building. At least 24 apartments were ruined by the blaze.
UPDATE: The fire has been put out, but somewhere between 35 and 37 people are estimated to have been displaced by it. The building in which the fire occurred was almost completely destroyed.
