UPDATE: In the aftermath of what was the deadliest day in American law enforcement since 9/11, five officers are dead and at least seven are wounded. Also wounded are two civilians. Three suspects are in custody and one sniper was killed by police after refusing to surrender. Police killed him using a bomb delivered by a remote-controlled robot. The type of robot used was a Northrop Grumman Remotec Andros, a nearly 500-pound machine normally used to bomb disposal. Police used the robot to deny the shooter further opportunity to harm officers.
