Library sets essay contest

Every spring to celebrate the Vidalia Onion Festival, the Ohoopee Regional
Library invites ALL area children in grades K through 8 to write and submit a story
or poem about Vidalia, “Yumion”, or the Vidalia Sweet Onion. Entries are divided
into 3 categories: K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade. Entries are
judged on creativity and originality, with awards for first, second, and third prizes,
as well as an honorable mention in each category. Winners are announced
during the week of the festival.
 
2016 Yumion Contest entries are being accepted now.  Stories and poems will be accepted for each category until 6 pm Thursday April 7, 2016
